Pitch your idea to our organising committee

Whilst abstracts submissions have officially closed, we are open to hearing about new projects, emerging innovations and great practice.

Each year, what makes an ATEM conference hum is the mix. It’s the balance between big ideas and practical takeaways, between stretching thinking and sharing what works. It’s the sessions that stay with you and the conversations that follow.

In 2026, we’re bringing that energy together under one shared theme: IGNITE.

IGNITE is about sparking what matters – new thinking, stronger practice, deeper trust and the kind of leadership our sector needs right now. It might show up in your organisation, your team, your work or your own leadership.

What could you bring?

As you start shaping your idea, you might reflect on:

  • Where have you ignited change, even in small but meaningful ways?
  • What’s building momentum in your team right now?
  • What idea is ready to spark a broader sector conversation?
  • Who could you collaborate with across institutions or roles?

You don’t need a polished finished product. Some of the most powerful sessions
start with a practical insight or an honest reflection.

Choose your session type

We’re curating a mix of formats to keep the program dynamic and engaging:

Lightning talk

A short, sharp idea at its point of inception. These sessions run in an incubator style – share your spark and invite input from the room.

Presentation

A longer session exploring an initiative, idea or experience. Can include interactive elements and practical takeaways. We have a mix of session lengths available.

Poster

A visual representation of your work, with time for discussion and connection with delegates.

Align with an IGNITE sub-theme

All submissions will align to at least one of our three sub-themes:

Find the spark

IGNITE ideas and innovation that challenge the status quo – creativity, digital transformation and bold thinking

Add the fuel

IGNITE purpose and inclusion – bringing to life what matters most through values, equity, belonging and shared purpose

Tend the fire

IGNITE people and leadership – strengthening capability, collaboration, partnerships and community

New to presenting? You’re in good company

ATEM has a strong tradition of first-time presenters who go on to become confident voices in the sector. We don’t just hand you a microphone and hope for the best. We offer support, guidance and development to help you shape your session and feel ready to step into the presentation space.

Turn your idea into a standout abstract

Got a great idea but not sure how to shape it into a compelling abstract? We’ve got you covered.

We recently ran a practical workshop to support potential presenters in moving from early thinking through to a clear, confident submission. It’s packed with tips on refining your idea, aligning to the conference themes and telling a story that will resonate with reviewers and delegates alike.

Whether this is your first time presenting or you’re looking to sharpen your approach, the session offers a helpful nudge to get your abstract over the line.
