7-10 September 2025

Australian National University, Canberra

Wow, what a conference! ATEM2025 has officially wrapped, but the energy and ideas continue to ripple across the tertiary education sector.

Held at ANU in Canberra, this year’s conference brought together nearly 400 professionals from across Australia, Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond. Delegates explored bold concepts, shared lived experiences and built new connections across institutions and career stages.

From keynote moments to quiet breakthroughs, ATEM2025 was more than a gathering – it was a catalyst. A space where curious minds met, where leadership was reimagined and the future of tertiary education was shaped in real time.

What’s next?

Planning for ATEM2026 is already underway. Keep an eye out for location and dates. In the meantime, explore ATEM’s year-round programs in leadership, mentoring and sector recognition.

By the sector, for the sector

ATEM2025 was practitioner-led and ambitious in scope. Designed by the sector, for the sector. Delegates came from public and private providers, academic and professional roles (and often bridged both). What united them was a shared passion for shaping the future of tertiary education and a commitment to driving innovation and positive change.

In the conference space, we brought together:

  • Senior leaders and managers in search of fresh ideas and talent
  • Mid-level managers and individual contributors eager to connect and collaborate
  • Early-career professionals and academics building knowledge and networks
  • Service providers, agencies and vendors supporting tertiary education management

Why impact?

In a rapidly evolving sector, what we do matters more than ever. ATEM2025 challenged us to reflect on how we:

  • turn bold ideas into actionable results
  • define and measure our influence as leaders, managers, and change-makers
  • foster a culture of meaningful outcomes in the organisations and communities we serve
